Why you'll want luxury vinyl flooring throughout your house

It's waterproof, making luxury vinyl (LVF) ideal for the kitchen, bath, laundry room, or anywhere there's excess water and humidity. The high-end style, however, makes it an excellent alternative for installation anywhere in the house. This product is much sought-after by homeowners and builders, especially senior communities where low maintenance and the comfort and traction of vinyl are vital; restaurant designers prefer it because of the high-end appearance combined with durability and waterproof characteristics.

Affordable luxury

Inspired by nature, LVF provides true-to-life echoes of wood, stone, and tile. Thanks to modern technology, these photos are clear and vibrant, with knots, grains, swirls, wormholes, and veining variations in full display. Micro beveling and deep embossing add depth, dimension, and textured appearances such as wire-brushed, hand scraped, weather, and distressed. Finishes are available in matte, gloss, and hi-gloss colors.

The material can be cut into vinyl plank flooring (LVP), meaning that the vinyl is cut into strips and mounted on boards to mimic hardwood. LVT flooring refers to the material being cut into square, groutable tile-sized pieces. Many feel the extra seams add to the realism, and some go even further by using grout with the tiles.

Transforming your life

LVF is considered one of the most kid-and-pet-friendly floorings around. In and of itself, vinyl is durable, and this is layered with a top, clear, strong, melamine coating that protects the floors from scratches and scuffs. It also keeps spills at the top, just waiting to be wiped off. However, be sure it's true LVF with a vinyl thickness of at least 8-mm and a wear layer of at least 20-mils.

We all lead busy, hectic lives that don't leave much time, or desire, to scrub floors. LVF eliminates any concern you may have because all it needs is a daily sweeping and periodic mopping with a manufacturer-approved cleaner. Be sure to avoid waxy, shine-promoting cleaners, though, as they can damage the finish; if you feel the floor needs more shine, talk to your flooring expert.

Installation can be a floating floor that is fast and uncomplicated. Here, the pieces click together to mat and then hover over the clean, dry, level subfloor with no nails or glue needed. A benefit is that you can pick it up and move it to another space when desired.
